SyncBackPro 12.1.34.0 adds PAR2 backup repair

SyncBackPro adds PAR2 recovery data for backups on local drives and network shares. Repairing a damaged file requires enough previously created recovery data.

SyncBackPro 12.1.34.0, released on October 22, 2026, adds PAR2 recovery data for backed-up files. This extra data can repair a partially damaged file without fetching the original again, provided enough usable recovery data remains.

Changes

  • PAR2 data during backups. After the feature is enabled, a normal backup job run creates the extra files needed for later repairs. The feature is off by default.
  • Integrity check and repair. During Integrity Check, SyncBackPro reads protected backup files, checks them against their PAR2 data, and repairs detected damage within the available recovery capacity. Creating PAR2 data alone does not check the backup.

Availability and limits

The feature is available in SyncBackPro through Insider Access and requires an active Upgrade Assurance subscription and Insider Access to be enabled. It applies to backups in local or network folders without destination compression by the program. Exclusions include jobs using Fast Backup or delta copy versioning, which stores changes between file versions.

By default, PAR2 protection starts at a file size of 1 MB; files excluded by filters are also outside its scope. Repair requires the damaged file and previously created PAR2 data to remain available. A deleted file or a lost backup drive requires recovery from another copy.
