NovaBACKUP 22, released on October 22 as version 22.0.1019, adds Windows system backups to regular backup jobs. Its new Disaster Recovery feature can store a system backup in the cloud and restore it directly to a computer.

What changed

  • System and file backups: selecting Disaster Recovery includes the drive Windows boots from. Other drives need to be selected separately. The new file-based system backup replaces legacy disk-image backup jobs.
  • Cloud recovery: system backups can be stored on local disks, a NAS, NovaBACKUP Cloud or S3-compatible storage. After the computer starts from recovery media, the software can retrieve a cloud backup and recreate the system disk with its partition layout.
  • Individual files: the new desktop app can mount a backup as a folder in File Explorer, allowing selected files to be copied out.

Disaster Recovery requires UEFI boot and a GPT system disk. Each restore recreates one disk, so additional disks require separate restore operations.

NovaBACKUP supports Windows on x64 processors. PC Agent supports Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2; Windows Server requires a Server Agent license. Upgrading from version 21.x requires a current subscription or a perpetual license with valid NovaCare coverage. Existing image backup jobs keep running after an in-place upgrade and remain managed in the legacy interface. They are not automatically converted to Disaster Recovery jobs.
