Cove 26.10 adds ZIP export for SharePoint backups
Cove 26.10 can export existing SharePoint Online site backups to ZIP files for download to local storage. Export and download require specific Cove permissions.
N-able added ZIP export for existing SharePoint Online site backups in Cove 26.10. Announced on October 22, 2026, the feature lets downloaded site data be kept on local storage outside Cove.
Changes
- ZIP export. In Cove, users select a SharePoint site, the date and time of a backup session, and the items to include in the archive.
- Export from an existing backup. Cove prepares the archive from an existing backup. The process does not require access to the live Microsoft 365 service or Microsoft Global Admin credentials.
Permissions and downloads
Exporting and downloading ZIP files require a Cove account with the SuperUser or Manager role and additional Security Officer permissions.
Cove does not automatically download the completed archive to a computer; it must be downloaded separately to retain a local copy.
Export jobs remain available in Cove for seven days and can be downloaded no more than five times. A new export is needed after that time or after the download limit is reached. Cove creates multiple files when an export exceeds 20 GB.
