Comet 26.8.10 adds browser-based file recovery
Released on October 22, 2026, this update belongs to the rolling Voyager series. Comet also maintains a separate quarterly release series.
Comet Backup 26.8.10 users can recover data from their backups through the Comet Management Console in a web browser. The result is a downloadable archive, without installing the Comet Backup desktop app on the computer being used.
The data comes from existing backups in a Comet Storage Vault. Users can choose a configured backup item (Protected Item) or an entire snapshot for download.
An administrator can perform this restore on a user's behalf with their permission. Users enable “Allow administrator to restore data” in the Comet Backup desktop app; they can also revoke permission through the web console.
